The Joy of a Spontaneous Road Trip

Last weekend, my best friend, Lila, called me at 9 a.m. and said, “Let’s go on a road trip.” An hour later, we were in her car, snacks packed, music playing, and no destination in mind. We drove through small towns, stopped at a diner for lunch, and explored a random park we saw by the side of the road. We got lost once (okay, twice), but we laughed the whole time. By evening, we ended up at a lake, where we sat on the shore and watched the sunset. It wasn’t a grand trip—no famous landmarks, no fancy hotels—but it was perfect. That day taught me that the best adventures don’t need plans. They just need good company, an open mind, and the courage to say “let’s go.” Sometimes, the most memorable days are the ones that start with a simple phone call and a willingness to embrace the unknown.
